We are wholly convinced that the only way to minister to children effectively is to put God at the center of everything we do, “for from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Every lesson, every song, every prayer and every activity that we do strives to show the children at Germiston Baptist Church the God of the bible.
We have borrowed this term from Children desiring God (www.childrendesiringgod.org). David and Sally Michaels used an illustration which we remind ourselves of often. We try to see every child as a sponge. Every chance we get, we feed them bible. We drive scripture memorization, do sword drills every Sunday, we teach with Bible in hand, read scripture during open sessions. The idea is that we drench each child with bible so that they are so full of bible that when life squeezes them, or challenges them … bible comes out. We also hold 2 Timothy 3: 16 close to our hearts. All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
With the Church
Germiston Baptist Church is blessed with a deep and visible unity; grace which we are grateful for. The Germiston Next Generation is part of the church. We do not see Sunday School as a separate department in the Church. Children are encouraged to sit in Church and listen to the word of God being preached and to join in when the church worships in congregation. We also pray as a church for our children and encourage them with scripture memorization, note taking and attendance at Sunday School.
The Germiston Next Generation teachers are equipped with excellent teaching material produced by Children Desiring God in Minneapolis. The curriculum is extremely well designed, age appropriate, theologically sound, deep and has proven itself to be extremely beneficial to the spiritual growth of our Children and we are thankful to God for the growth we see every Sunday.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
